The One with Peewiglet

There is a name and a thing, and a thing, And a name, And a name, And not the thing, And the Name and the thing both in accordance to the thing and name.

And the name is Peewiglet.

Yey, Shirl's back and writing.

Besides various comments online, I heard her podcast about the TGO Challenge in 2005 when I was camped in the Cairngorms last year. I thought "I can do that", and so investigated long distance walking.

The podcast is still available on www.backpackinglight.co.uk/page71.asp under "Shirley’s first solo TGO Challenge crossing of Scotland 05".

Oh, and her blog can be found at peewiglet.wordpress.com

As well as her home site at www.peewiglet.com

And she had (has?) an Akto. Not that I'm biased.

Hello again :)

It's so nice of you all to be so welcoming. Thank you for your very kind words. I feel genuinely moved to learn that my podcast with Bob gave you a shove in the direction of long distance walking. That's what's so great about the way we're all able to communicate so much more easily than it was possible before the net, and the Bobcasts etc. Now we all learn from each other and feed off each other's enthusiasm. I was inspired by Chris T, you heard my podcast and decided to have a go, and I've absolutely no doubt that others will have heard you talk/read your pages and felt the beginnings of that fatal thrill of excitement in their hearts.

I've got so much reading to catch up on. Your pages are amazing!

Cooee <*waving back in a manly manner*)

I think it is all a matter of empathy rather than eternal gear reviews. It can't always be sunny, we can't always be happy and we can't always directly express our emotions. But we can try.

I think my most referenced hiking book is Mr T's "The Backpacker's Handbook".

Empathised reads are Muriel Gray's "The First Fifty" and Bill Bryson's "A Walk in the Woods".

Aw, shucks, lass, you only say that after I'd bought the chocolates.
:-)

Thank you, and I look forward to reading more of your exploits. Though I must admit that I haven't watched the ST:TOS fan video yet, as I may need some alcyhol before I can cope with such editting of Trek.
