RIP Nevisport?

One of my workmates told me that Nevisport's shutters were down in Aberdeen. The website now has "This product is temporarily out of stock or unavailable on Nevisport.com." against all their products, and has no featured products, nor events. Ben Nevis cam is still there ... but is currently dark, so maybe it isn't.

I've found nothing online about the business, whether they will re-open the stores, or what the new owner's plans are. Hopefully he's looking after the staff, as Christmas isn't far off.

There's a brief report here, saying Nevisport is in liquidation (but that the Aberdeen store is still open).

From reading various reports it isn't celear if Sports Direct bought Nevisport or not. Any ideas?

It would be a shame to see the branch at Ft Bill close.

This came in from BBC News (via OM)

The Fort William-based firm closed five of its 12 UK stores last week including branches in Inverness and Glasgow.

Stores in Aberdeen, Aonach Mor, Aviemore, Edinburgh, Fort William, Middlesbrough and York all remain open

Just been announced that Nevisport has been sold to "a subsidiary of Glasgow-based company Jacobs and Turner Limited" and that the six stores still open will remain so.

And a quick web search shows that Jacobs and Turner trade as Trespass.
