I followed that link and clicked on Moray Firth. Way up in the top right corner was Hirta, a (an?) FP vessel. I'd seen her on the telly not 10 minutes before. Small world, eh? :o)
AIS is sooo useful. I also found out why the Research of Whalsay hadn't been around. She was rammed in Denmark and has been stuck there being repaired. Combination of AIS/Google/BBC news. Without the internet, writing my thesis would take a lot longer.
Oh how sad. It really upset me when that crash happened. Feel even more sorry for the guy that missed it cos he had to work an extra shift. Sounded very like he was in the early stages of survivor's guilt on the news.
On a lighter note - is that database of old internet sites still going? I mind looking at the original college pages there.
the somalia one even has pirates labelled by warlord

ReplyDeleteThere's a couple of crude oil tankers out there today, but I can't hear any swearing.
ReplyDelete@paul - no recipes beyond. Buy crisps. Open packet. Eat.
ReplyDelete@FJ - with historical data too, you can see the rescue craft involved in the recent terrible North Sea helo crash.

Aberdeen is a small place, even if not affected directly.
