Primus EtaExpress ETA?

Old article from November 07 about the Primus EtaExpress, this time from Trailspace.com Their gear review is waiting for the product to arrive.

North American Gear's PrimusCamping.com have the EtaExpress with 1.0 litre and frying pan lid, but no photo. They sell the EtaExpress 1 litre pot and the stove separately too.

Primus have a product sheet here.

I had a quick shufty round the online UK stockists, and couldn't see anyone displaying ones for sale.

Good stove. I have one on test - the report will be in the April TGO. The stove itself is very similar to the Primus Micron. The key is the heat exchanger on the base of the pot.

Aye, it's what's drawn me to the system, Chris. I've been using the Primus Micron after hauling the Gravity stove up the WHW in 2006. Part of my gear re-evaluation.

If it improves upon the Micron, and all fits together neatly, it's got to be good. I like having everything in the one place. For example

If you've got the Micron you just need the pot. I can't see that the stove itself is much different, though I haven't tried the pot with the Micron yet.

Pot illustration shows the heat exchanger, but not the wind shield. Any idea if the wind shield comes (will come) with the pot or the stove, or separately?

I suspect the windshield will only come with the complete unit. However the sample I have has a prototype windshield that doesn't fit properly so I haven't been using it. I'm not sure that a small clip-on windshield will be very effective anyway. I use a tall foil windshield that surround the stove on three sides.

Shame that the wee windscreen behaved like that as it looked more professional than my old pie-case metal foil sheet.

Mmmm...pies....
:)

Anyway...dunno if the heat exchanger would be worth splashing out on a new pot for. Ah well, I'm looking forward to your review, and getting a chance to try it out in the shops before deciding if I want to spend the money on something identical to my existing Snow*Peak titanium cookset just for the heat exchanger.

Hmmm...

Wiggle seem to have it available for order here: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/ProductDetail.aspx?Cat=hike&ProdID=5360034030&N=Primus%20EtaExpress%20Stove
for £54. They indicate that it should be actually in stock 'early March'.

Very tempted, but may wait on Chris' review first.
